Foodie Festival In West Cork On Track To Entertain

A Taste of West Cork is the largest food festival in Ireland and last year was awarded the title of No.1 Foodie destination in 2017 by the Restaurant Association of Ireland. The festival takes place near Rathberry at the historical location of Freke Castle and runs between September 7 and September 16. West Cork comes together for the festival of a lifetime. Unity of the towns spanning Bandon to Berea, West Cork ingredients, and a talented guest chef line-up are the recipe for success.

US Additions Add Value

This year will see six US chefs strut their stuff, one of which is Master Chef USA winner, Shaun O’Neale. The recent addition of Cork to the Providence/Boston flight schedule has made this welcome addition possible and provided a much-needed international twist to the festival. The event will include 34 guest chefs from across the globe, 23 guest speakers and more than 250 different events aimed at providing food-festival lovers with a flavourful experience from beginning to end. 30 000 Guests are expected to grace the streets of the 41 towns and 8 islands taking part in the festival. This is set to be a memorable 10-day feasting festival.

Speciality Events

There will be a number of lectures and workshops at this year’s event. The main focus being concentrated on sustainability, home-grown produce, and foraging. The vegan population is growing in numbers and healthy lifestyle living has become paramount. Suzanna Melinn and Jena Malone will be available to share their menus. The West Cork Paradox is an anticipated event at the festival. Famine To Feast – Survival to Innovation takes place on 8 September and will provide some scintillating insight and information.
